How did your category begin or start? What is the history of your specific category?
The reason why I began to start a category under the name of “R & B” was because I enjoy listening to that type of music. It isn’t my favorite genre to listen to, but, I am familiar with many R & B artists. R & B is the abbreviated version of “Rhythms and Blues” which originated in 1940s by African-Americans. In the 80’s, many famous music artists such as Rick James, Freddie Jackson, and Stephanie Mills are some of the many influential artists that create R & B music. R & B music feature many different instruments to create a catchy rhythm to their song, R & B is a mix of gospel, jazz, and blues. As said by wisegeek.com, many R & B artists use saxophone and electric guitars for their music. R & B can also be joined together by other music genres such as Hip-Hop. When joined together it is called “Hip-Hop and R & B”. That specific type of genre is very popular in the United States since 1980’s until now. In my opinion, I really enjoy listening to 90’s Hip-Hop and R & B because it has two of my preferred music genres. It is said that R & B music makes you want get up and dance. Most lyrics that R & B artists write are about joy and freedom, sometimes they are about love or relationships. Many people like R & B, some may not. It depends on your taste of music.
